Chana dal is cooked with the combination of bitter gourd (turai, turi) and squashes to make delicious turai chana dal recipe.Turai is disliked by many of us due to its unusual appearance. It is actually one of those vegetables that absorbs other flavours beautifully.
Ingredients
  • Tomato Chopped 3 Numbers
  • Green Chilly 4 Numbers
  • Coriander Powder 1 Tablespoons
  • Salt To Taste
  • Onion Chopped 1 Numbers
  • Garlic Chopped 1 Teaspoons
  • Turmeric ¼ Teaspoons
  • Curry Leaves 2 Springs
  • Cumin Seeds ½ Teaspoons
  • Mustard Seeds ½ Teaspoons
  • Ridge Gourd 250 Grams
  • Chana Dal 100 Grams
  • Coconut Grated 1 Tablespoons
  • Coriander Chopped 1 Bunch
Instructions
  1. Boil the chana dal in a pressure cooker but still grainy.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, turmeric, chopped garlic, sauté it and add chopped onions, salt, chopped green chilly, ridge gourd, chopped tomatoes (optional),
  3. add chana dal water, coriander powder, put the lid on and let it cook for few minutes, add boiled chana daal, coconut grated,
  4. mix it and add the coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
  5. Serve this hot with roti and phulkas.
