Mutton kolhapuri puts forth a typical spicy and red colored Kolhapuri style cooked mutton recipe which is sure to tempt you to crave for more. The mutton pieces are simmered in an authentic blend Of kolhapuri masalas and served red hot with rice or bhakri.
Ingredients
  • ½ kg mutton, cleaned and cubed
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
  • 1 cup oil
  • 8 cloves (laung / lavang)
  • 8 peppercorns
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds (khus-khus)
  • 1 tsp coriander (dhania) seeds
  • 1 tsp aniseeds (vilayati saunf)
  • 6 red chillies
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • ½ coconut, grated
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and halved
  • 1 cup coriander (dhania) leaves
  • salt to taste
Instructions
  1. Marinate the meat pieces in salt, turmeric and ginger-garlic paste for 1 hour. heat 2 tbsps oil in a pan. add cloves, peppercorns, poppy seeds, coriander seeds, aniseeds and red chillies. brown the mixture. add onions and brown them. next, add coconut, tomatoes and brown. remove from fire and cool. grind to a paste. keep aside. in a pressure cooker
  2. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with soft chapatis.
