A tea time snack.
- 6 large raw bananas
- 1½ cups boiled green peas
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 4 tbsp cornflour
- 2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
- 2 small sticks cinnamon (dalchini)
- 2 cloves (laung / lavang)
- 1 tsp green chilli paste
- 2 tbsp grated processed cheese
- salt to taste
- broken vermicelli (seviyan) or bread crumbs
- 2 tbsp ghee
- oil for frying
- For the dipping batter
- ¾ cup water
- ¾ cup plain flour (maida)
- Boil the bananas with the skin until soft. Remove the skin and mash well. Add the lemon juice, cornflour and salt.
- For the stuffing:
- Heat the ghee in a frying pan. Fry the cumin seeds for a minute. Add the cinnamon and cloves. Add the peas, green chilli paste, salt and grated cheese. If you like, and add a little black salt.
- Cool the mixture until dry.
- How to proceed:
- Take a little banana dough, pat it lightly. Add the stuffing and seal the sides.
- Repeat with the remaining banana dough and stuffing.
- Mix the plain flour in the water and drop the stuffed bananas in it.
- Remove and roll in the vermicilli and deep fry until golden.
- Serve hot.
