Bread pakoda, a unique, yummy and healthy paneer stuffing that makes these bread pakodas a perfect short break snack. Remember to pack tomato ketchup as an accompaniment.
Ingredients
  • To Be Mixed Into A Paneer Stuffing
  • 1 cup grated paneer
  • ¼ cup grated carrot
  • ¼ cup boiled and lightly mashed green peas
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
  • salt to taste
  • To Be Mixed Into A Smooth Batter
  • ¾ cup besan (Bengal gram flour)
  • ⅓ cup water
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  • ¼ tsp chilli powder
  • a pinch asafoetida (hing)
  • salt to taste
  • Other Ingredients
  • 4 whole wheat bread slices
  • oil for deep-frying
Instructions
  1. Divide the stuffing into 4 equal portions and keep aside.
  2. Place a slice of bread on a clean, dry surface and spread a portion of the stuffing evenly over it.
  3. Place another slice of bread over it, press lightly and cut it diagonally into 2 equal pieces.
  4. Repeat with the remaining ingredients to make 2 more pieces.
  5. Dip each piece in the batter till it is evenly coated from all the sides, slide in hot oil and deep-fry on a medium flame till the pakodas turn light brown in colour and crisp from both the sides. Drain on absorbent paper.
  6. How to pack:
  7. Cool slightly and wrap in an aluminium foil or cling film or pack in a tiffin box along with tomato ketchup.
