Onion rings in a buttermilk batter, deep fried till golden brown. This is a perfect recipe when served with drinks before a meal.
Ingredients
  • 4 onions
  • 1¼ cups plain flour (maida)
  • 1 tsp cornflour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp pepper powder
  • a pinch ofsoda bi-carb
  • salt to taste
  • Other Ingredients
  • oil for deep-frying
  • For Serving
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
Instructions
  1. Peel and cut the onions into 12 mm. (½") roundels. Separate the roundels to get onion rings. Keep aside.
  2. Combine the flour, cornflour, buttermilk, pepper powder, soda bi-carb and salt and make a batter of pouring consistency using some water.
  3. Dip the onion rings in this batter and deep fry in hot oil till golden brown in colour.
  4. Drain on absorbent paper.
  5. Serve hot, sprinkled with the chaat masala.
